About our email system:

Your question: "But, why can't I just email you directly", we can hear you asking.

Answer: Communications on the high seas, or even on the coast is sometimes problematic. Internet is not always available and cell phone coverage becomes limited. On the sailboat Mad Dog Voyager, we use the ICOM-802 Single Side Band (this is a SSB or "Ham radio" for boaters) for email (the two most popular email providers are SailMail and WinLink). This system is limited to text messages only and we need to reduce the burden of SPAM on our systems. By asking you to fill in a form to contact us, we can eliminate almost 100% of the Spam.
