Seal of approval for services or products of outstanding value
 Rating products for use on boats is different from rating them for any
other application. The world today is inundated by mediocre products,
built to mediocre designs and backed by mediocre companies. If you live
in a house and buy or use one of these products, while being an
inconvenience and waste of your time, if something falls apart, breaks
down or stops working, you can always drive back to the store where you
purchased it an return/exchange it.
However, on a boat it is a completely different situation. With limited
storage, we usually have to minimize what is carried and come to rely
heavily on every item onboard. When your windlass or inverter/charger
packs it in, you generally don’t have a fallback device.
Products tested and reviewed by the Mad Dogs have been put through the
daily rigors and have been tested in real life situations.
Our ratings
take into account several aspects and they do not rely only upon the
product itself. We understand and appreciate that things happen and
stuff breaks down for whatever reason, however if the failure is related
to poor design, or a supplier/manufacturer is unwilling to provide
reasonable service it is unacceptable to us.
When we encounter products that are outstanding, suppliers that back
their products unfailingly or companies that provide service above and
beyond what is expected, we want to tell you about it. By
recognizing the efforts of these companies and encouraging others to
utilize the recommended services or products, we hope these companies
will continue to offer even better products and services in the future.
And to those companies that fail -watch out otherwise the Mad Dogs might
take a bite!
