Crossing the river in the Canadian Rockies
About this image: "Oooh, ooh, ow, ooh. These rocks are sharp"
This was one of those adventures where the map didn't exactly give you all the details. No where on the map did it show this river we were supposed to cross. However, once you've hiked this far, you can only persevere and move forward.

River crossing in the Rocky Mountains
About this image: "Ah, that's better. Now my feet are numb and I don't feel the rocks"
A little further along the river crossing and the current was a little less. Still, the glacier fed river was cold, but eventually you lost all feeling in your feet and things were a lot easier...

Chipmunk feeding on the mountain top
About this image: "Mffl, mlff.. this is good stuff.. mfffm, mffl"
He was glad to see us arrive and more than ready for a snack and a handout, this little chipmunk enjoyed a snack of trail mix (nuts, raisins, chocolate, etc).

Chipmunk gets a little cheeky
About this image: "Uh, excuse me, can I try what you're having??"
We always loved making and eating pancakes with strawberry jam on our trips. A little water, pancake mix, a small frying pan and the Coleman Peak 1 stove and we had a great snack anywhere and all within 15 minutes. This little chipmunk enjoyed the pancakes as much as us and ended up eating almost 1/4 of the pancake before taking off. Starting a little before this time period, I was usually in charge of the food and we always ate good, tasty and flavorful meals.

Peyto Lake, Rocky Mountains
About this image: Posing for a nice mountain shot
This photo finds me surrounded by the mountains and overlooking Peyto Lake in the Canadian Rockies. Leo and I were regulars in the Canadian Rockies (including the winter season) spending countless weekends and holidays climbing, hiking, skiing or just plain adventuring. I very much looked forward to these trips and to getting away to the freedom of the mountains. At the time of posting these pictures online, we were in Alaska, seeing the same mountain landscape, but this time surrounded by water and from a much different perspective.
