About this image:
This Mountain Goat found the snack jackpot!
We don’t know if it was the lighting, the background or
maybe his diet, but this Mountain Goat’s fur coat looked
softer, silkier and more luxurious than any of the other
Mountain Goats we have seen. It was incredibly clean and had
that “just back from the drycleaner” sheen to it.

About this image:
It’s a half-moon – but is that a half-full or half-empty
moon??
While anchored at the northern end of Scidmore Inlet, calm
waters, no wind, perfectly clear skies and a very close moon
path allowed us to get this nice clear photo of the moon –
or at least half of it. |

About this image:
Oldsquaw Duck swims by, drifting with the current
This Oldsquaw Duck spent part of the afternoon leisurely
swimming and drifting with the changing currents. Normally
the Oldsquaws display their very long pin tail feathers,
however sometimes they are angled down underwater, like this
one. We’re not sure however, what to make of his color
pattern looking like he was either going for a ”It’s spring
and I am a flower” look or the old “I am Duckman, wearing my
pointy tipped cape, ready to avenge all evil” look. |

About this image:
Another look at Scidmore Glacier
This is the third time we’ve been to this location and every
time it looks a little different. The first time it was
autumn and everything was exposed; the second time was the
beginning of January and everything was absolutely and
completely white with now, but this time, there is a little
less snow and a little more contour and detail are visible
around Scidmore Glacier,

About this image:
Panorama of shore below Scidmore Glacier
This panorama encompasses the entire shore below Scidmore
Glacier. This vast shore plain has been the sight of a
number of animal sightings and appears to be a popular
location for moose to wander around. Scidmore Inlet is
another one of the locations that are closed off to
motorized traffic for the entire summer seasons and this may
be the last time we are here with Mad Dog Voyager until the
end of the 2009 season. |

About this image:
The Moose Train of the North
The blue skies relented, gave up ground and we prepared to
hunker down to ride out a 30+ kt (34 mph / 55 km/h) storm
that rolled in from the South. We watched as these 5 moose
formed a Moose Caravan, imitating the famous Camel Caravans
fighting Desert Sand Storms. With heads held low, they
trudged along, fighting against the Southerly winds. Brrrrr……. |
