Wolf in Endicott Arm, Alaska
About this photo: Gazing past the photographer she finds interest elsewhere
Gazing past Dean, this wolf keeps an eye on Leo. Sauntering over towards him, she is again very interested in Leo as he reclines in the tall grass.

Wolf playing Hide-and-Seek
About this photo: Peek-a-boo!
Jumping up and over this fallen tree trunk, our friend plays a game of Hide-and-Seek. One minute hiding on the far side of the tree, the next posing for a photo and then climbing under to approach the camera, she plays for a few minutes longer until deciding to move on. As she crosses back through the river, we are once again alone. Not lonely, just alone. This has been an incredible afternoon for us to have been accepted by and have experienced Alaska’s wilderness.

Mad Dog Voyager sits in the haze and smoke of fires
About this photo: A hazy horizon
Enveloped in a surreal pinkish-yellow haze, visibility has been reduced by the recent fires in the area. Mad Dog Voyager sits idly by in Endicott Arm, in a spot safe from floating icebergs, waiting for our return as we continue exploring shore side and do a little river running in the catamaran dinghy.

Wolf going for an afternoon swim
About this photo: “Oops, forgot my shampoo - better go back”
As we watched in amazement, we tracked this wolf (another) running flat out across a grassy patch, down the beach and, without slowing or hesitating, “Splash!” right into the water and continued on swimming! With a few species of birds in the waters, including Gulls and Scoters, some molting and unable to fly, this wolf may have thought of a little fowl for dinner. Unfortunately, the Gulls and Scoters were able to swim, flap and flounder far enough to stay out of the hungry jaws. Better luck next time…
